Stimulation of
the anus and anal intercourse, because of their erogenous nature, are
two techniques that can be terrifically arousing as long as both partners
are willing to explore and discover each other. Men and women are delighted
to find that stimulating the anus heightens sexual response during foreplay
and while engaging in intercourse. Women may even feel especially aroused
when anal stimulation is combined with simultaneous clitoral massage.
Men often learned that the pleasure of anal stimulation can be significantly
increased when it is extended to include massage of the prostate gland. |

You may find that you want to follow an overall caress
by deliberately stroking around the outside of the anus but withdrawing
soon to other caresses. On subsequent occasions you might want to let
the stroking continue for longer periods of time and eventually initiate
a fingering activity. The anus contains more nerve endings than any other
part of the male body, and more than any part of the female body expect
the clitoris. The anus does not lubricant itself, so to have safe anal
sex, a lubricant should always be used during any type of anal stimulation/penetration.
Another type of anal stimulation that you and your partner
may wish to consider is oral-anal stimulation. This technique, called
analingus, is more popularly known as 'rimming'. The lips, tongue, and
anal opening are all so highly sensitive, it shouldn’t be surprising
that many couples enjoy combing all three into intimate contact.
The prostate gland is a sensitive spot in men that is about
two inches inside the rectum, pointing towards the belly. The P-spot is
in the same location as the G-spot for women. Plugs that offer a firm
forward curve are designed to stimulate the prostate. A P-spot orgasm
is a heightened sensation, and a different orgasm than penis stimulation
that all men should experience. |

Before enjoying
the sensations of a romance toy, always try to begin by bathing and relaxing
as a means of removing any tension around the anal area. Once you or your
partner are comfortable you can start by applying lubricant to your finger
and running it on the anal opening in preparation for inserting a toy.
Keep in mind that any object entering the anus should have no sharp surfaces
(this no only includes sex toys, but also your finger nails).
Butt plugs are popular because they have a flared base, so that the sphincter muscles will close around the plug and it will stay inside the rectum, but won’t slip in all the way. Some plugs are better at staying inside than others, and some people prefer toys that they can slide in and out easily. Plugs that are more diamond-shaped like the Butt Hungry or Crystal Jellies Butt Plug Medium, are better for staying in. Those with ripples and other fun textures can be fun to slide in and out during play, like the Tantus Protouch, or the Tantus Ripple.
If you like that in-and-out sensation, you can use dildos by hand or strap them into a harness for thrusting thrills. The Tantus Acute, or Blush Anal Starter are good beginner anal dildos and the Bend Over Harness Kit is a kit with everything you will need to get started with a harness.
The repeated opening and closing of the anal sphincters from inserting and removing anal beads is a sensation that brings many people to orgasm. Anal beads come in all sizes and materials, and are a series of beads knotted into place along a string, or beads along a cord of plastic or silicone. We recommend Tantus Silicone Beads, Dragonz Tale, or the New Jelly Thai Beads.
The outer portion of the anus is highly sensitive and rich
in nerve endings. Vibration creates a heightened excitement and feeling
of fullness. Popular choices are, the Tantus
Protouch, or the Tantus
Buzz 1. |

Anal toy materials
can vary. They are similar to those used in vibrators and dildos. Please
see our Materials Section
in the Choosing A Dildo information
section to help choose the material that you would most prefer. The most
popular choice for anal toys is usually Silicone, because it is the easiest
to clean and disinfect. |

Water-based lubricant
is fine for anal play. However, most people prefer thicker lubes that
will provide more cushion and appreciate those that stay wet longer. A
favourite silicone lube is JO lube. For a thicker lube, the favourite
is Foreplay Cream. We also recommend JO H2O for a long lasting water-based
lubricant for anal play. |

Couples who look
to enjoy anal intercourse generally view it as the culmination of all
their anal exploration activities. Essentially, anal intercourse involves
inserting an erect penis or a strap-on dildo into the anal canal and is
accompanied by varying degrees of rhythmic movement. |

Make sure you use
condoms with your anal toys if you are going to share them. If they are
silicone or metal, you can boil them in between uses. It is possible to
pass HIV, hepatitis, and bacteria by sharing anal toys. When putting a
condom on a butt plug, we recommend tying a knot at the base of the plug
to prevent the condom from slipping off during use. |
